When Spock told Kirk, leader of the enterprise that the Klingon home world was under attack and that assisting them offered an opportunity for peace, Kirk’s response was “Let them die!” which is especially notable in the series. It is certainly a welcome change from the usual compassionate captain we have all come to love.
Of course this is just another testament that Kirk is indeed, still human, the whole team at large knew that he really did not mean what he said, and that he only said it out of bitterness what with his son dead and all.
