NASA will be pimping the special effects in Startrek to make it more realistic.
As divulged by The Arizona Daily Star, it was recorded that J.J. Abrams had called Carolyn Porco wherein he talked to her about his science fiction films. He mentioned that the upcoming Starteck movie was integrating NASA technology to help it be more realistic in the field of graphics and special effects. Porco said that she will be working in the set doing astronomical and planetary scenes. She adds that, “I doubt there will be very much shooting down inane things like phasers. I’m going to be the planetary policewoman. That’s what I’ll try to be. I’ll be consulting, but in the end it’s Abrams’ decision what he takes and what he doesn’t of my advice.”
